Description: The main topic of the chat tonight was Androids, Robots and Artificial Intelligence. We began the evening discussing the philosophical questions of when robots or androids become a reality, will we be guilty of murder when we disconnect their battery packs? Also brought up was whether or not robots could have a soul and how could we tell if they did? As the evening progressed the chat became very in depth and the members expressed themselves well on the subject. This was a very intelligent crowd and besides debating the various issues on the "creation" of the robots, androids and artificial intelligence machines, the moral ideas were expressed also and whether or not the machines would ever become sentient. A few of the books brought up with references to robotic beings were the Heinlein and Asimov stories. We also touched on Cyborgs and spent a good deal of time debating the differences between Cyborgs and Androids. All in all, a VERY good chat on Androids, Robots and Artificial Intelligence.
